Apply Today!    Where You Will Work   In operation since 2007, Safford operations is a zero-discharge facility and one of the most sustainable mines in the United States. The operation’s commitment to utilizing advanced technologies and sustainable practices strongly emphasizes safety and environmental stewardship. Located in southeastern Arizona, close to more than 4 million acres of national forest, employees and their families can connect with the great outdoors while fishing, rafting, hiking and more. Several educational institutions also are nearby, including a Northern Arizona University satellite campus, Eastern Arizona College, and the Gila Institute for Technology.  DescriptionUnder limited supervision, plan, organize, manage and evaluate assigned operations, including but not limited to, daily production, product quality, environmental management, safety, or maintenance. Supervise through Senior Process Controllers.

Establish tactical and strategic goals, objectives, policies and procedures in assigned area within the business

Direct Supervisors and other staff in daily operations

Inspect daily operations and projects in progress and upon completion to ensure quality of work

Provide administrative and technical direction to staff; interpret policies and procedures established by regulatory agencies

Oversee and recommend the selection of key staff; participate in the selection of staff

Work with employees to correct deficiencies

Implement disciplinary procedures and recommend terminations

Investigate complaints and recommend corrective action as necessary

Forecast necessary fund for staffing, materials and supplies, and capital improvement projects

Submit budget recommendations and justifications; monitor and control expenditures

Develop, plan and coordinate the work plan for assigned projects and responsibilities, which may include project management, cost estimates and program development

Coordinate work with other units and site departments

Provide information and resources to site officials and other departments

Review Capital Improvement Plans and make recommendations

Evaluate infrastructure, facilities and operating systems for needed maintenance and repair.

Oversee and supervise:

Designs for PLC, DCS, HMI, and SOW specifications for Process Automation systems

System documentation

Process optimization and Advanced Control Systems

Oversee and coordinate with MIS on PCN and other joint responsibilities

Responsible for long term planning for up to one year

Review and approve:

Drawings for new projects

Control narratives

Commissioning plans

Construction sites

10 year to life of mine plan for Process Automation

Coordinate the activities of consulates and contractors

Perform other duties as required

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED and seven (7) years related operational experience, including supervisory or management experience, OR

Bachelor's degree and three (3) years related operational experience, including supervisory or management experience

Seven (7) years working with PLC/DCSs including HMIs, loop tuning, alarm management and historians in an operating plant.

Two (2) years working with APC/Expert systems

Two (2) years working with advanced sensors

Ability to develop/implement/maintain the department's safety program, and alarm management program that protects all personnel and equipment

Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions

Skill in following safety practices and recognizing hazards

At least one project where candidate was responsible for coordinating the activities of one or more outside contractors

Proficiency with at least two PCS manufactures

Strong analytical/troubleshooting skills

Ability to read and modify electrical schematics, P&IDsand PFDs

Ability to plan, prioritize, direct and manage a diverse number of operational areas, projects and activities

Strong English skills, both oral and written

Strong managerial and supervisory skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Trained ABB, Delta V, Foxboro, or Honeywell DCSs

Trained in Modicon or Rockwell PLCs

Experience in OSIsoft PI System

Crush and Convey, Concentrator, Filter Plant, Moly Plant, Tailings, Pumping, Power Distribution, Smelting, Acid/Chemical Plant, or SX/EW, Rod/Refinery process experience

Robotics experience

Ability to working a culturally diversified workforce

High-level negotiation and communication skills

Criteria/Conditions:

Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English

Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment

Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see

Occasionally may be required to life moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday

Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard-hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

What We Offer You The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently  $98,000-$137,000.  This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
