Position Title: Audio/Visual Tech Staff


Ministry Area: Facilities, Worship


Reports To: Director of Technical Arts


Status: Part-time; Hourly

Summary

The Audio/Visual Tech Staff play a vital role in enabling worship to both happen in person as well as over livestream. The Audio/Visual Tech are responsible for the sound quality and production, video recording, visual communication slides, and lighting during worship services and other special events. Ability to communicate while working part-time is essential.

Audio-Visual Technical Expertise:

- Maintain optimal sound balances during worship services and other special events. Knowledge of sound quality and production for speaking as well as singing and instrumentation.

- Film worship and other special events for live-streaming and post-production editing.

- Advance visual communication slides during worship and other special events.

- Livestream worship and other special events.

- Create lighting concepts and ensure smooth lighting transitions.

- As trained, upload Sunday worship service audio to podcast and phone call-in platforms.

- As trained, upload content to church YouTube, Facebook, and other streaming channels.

- Maintain audio visual equipment.

- Communicate with the Director of Technical Arts when repairs are needed.

Collaborate:

- Work with Director of Technical Arts and any other A/V Tech staff to create excellent audio and visual experiences for worship and other special events.

- Work with pastors and church staff to achieve sound and audio goals for worship and other special events.

Communicate:

- Promote, communicate, and embody the vision, mission, and core values of First Church.

- Receive feedback appropriately and make improvements as needed.

- Ask questions, initiate conversations, and reply to tech requests in a timely manner.

Preferred Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

- Audio visual expertise. Experience with video production, audio design, and uploading/streaming content to the internet.

Computer Skills:

- Working knowledge of internet tools including Adobe Suite, iMovie, social media, and word processing software.

Other:

- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from pastors, staff, lay leadership, and church members.

- Ability to solve practical problems and effectively cope with the challenges that may arise from working with a variety of people and equipment in a church setting.

- Must be able to ask questions or to ask for help when needed.

- Must be able to work independently and with a team.

- Must pass a background, fingerprint, and reference check.

- Ability to occasionally lift 25 lbs. or more.

- Strong commitment to Christian faith and theology of the United Methodist Church is preferred, but not required. Familiarity with the United Methodist Church worship, structure, and Wesleyan theology is helpful.
