On-Call After Hours Hospice Nurse

North Hawaii Hospice, Inc.
North Hawaii Hospice is seeking part-time or full-time on-call (after hours) nurses for the Kohala, Waikoloa, Waimea, and Hamakua area to work with hospice and palliative care patients. As a member of our team, employees will be trained in palliative care and symptom management.
Call time hours:
Monday-Friday : 4:30 pm- 8:30 am
Saturday- Sunday consists of four 12 hour shifts: 8:00 am- 8:00 pm, 8:00 pm- 8:00 am
What to expect as an On-Call nurse with North Hawaii Hospice:
Average of 2 calls per night
Most calls occur before 10 pm and after 6 am.
Most calls do not require an in-person visit
If full-time: anticipate an average of 12 in-home visits per month
BONUS: if full-time, any visits over 12 patients/month will be extra per visit
Position Requirements:
Current Hawaii Nursing License
Valid driver’s license
Reliable transportation with insurance coverage
Competent computer and organizational to complete patient charting in a timely manner
Experience in hospice, home health, or prior experience working with terminally ill patients
Comfort with collaborating with physicians for coordination of care
Ability to provide patient education, counseling, end of life symptom management
Ability to triage telephone calls and make home visits if indicated (supported by on-call Physician consult if needed)
Comfort with providing information about hospice to patient and families
