We are actively seeking a Salon Coordinator/Receptionist to join our growing team at Soma Salon and Spa, located in bustling Assembly Row, Somerville. We are hiring for both Part-time and Full-time opportunities. Weekend availability is a must (Saturday night and/or Sunday day shift)

The role of Salon Coordinator is to provide support for salon Stylists and Owner. This includes servicing customers, booking appointments in person and over the phone, checking guests in and out, and managing the needs and daily flow of the salon.

[EDUCATION]

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred: College degree in administrative or business field

[EXPERIENCE]

Required:

- Two or more years of experience in a retail and/or service industry, with heavy concentration on customer service and/or sales.

[JOB SUMMARY]

- Coordinate the daily flow of guest check-in, scheduling, servicing, and check out. Multi-tasking is key, as you will operate in a busy, fast-paced environment.

- Effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.

- Excellent knowledge of the industry and trends impacting the salon.

- Excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with vendors, guests, coworkers, and Owner. This includes not discussing any internal business or personal issues in front of customers.

- Flexible, able to adapt to sudden changes throughout the day, in a fast paced environment.

- Quick decision maker.

- Freely and openly take direction from Owner, Stylists, and Estheticians.

- Handle cash and other tenders of payment.

- Computer proficient: Learn and effectively use salon software.

- Perform light administrative duties accurately and in a timely manner.

- Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, staff, or vendors.

- Run a front desk area in an efficient manner.

- Sell: both in person and over the phone. This includes up-selling.

- Team player, supportive of Stylists’, Estheticians’, and Owner’s needs.
