The Crew Chief position is responsible for leading survey technicians in the field and often running a one-man robotic or GPS system. The Crew Chief should be meticulous and efficient, keeping excellent notes, ensuring organized data files, and maintaining clear communication with support staff in the office.
Essential Duties
Lead a team of survey technicians, ensuring efficient time in the field
Be comfortable running a solo field operation when necessary
Properly use a data collector and field notes to ensure data is easily communicated with office support staff
Maintain neat, organized, workmanlike vehicle and equipment
Be an ambassador in the field for Ark, both to clients whose projects you’re working on and to members of the public you will encounter
Ability to work in all weather conditions that permit crew safety
Qualifications
5+ years of survey field work
A comprehensive understanding of data collector software (preferably Carlson SurvCE or SurvPC)
Punctuality and dependability
Valid North Carolina drivers’ license
Successful completion of a background check and drug screening
Extras
5+ years as a Crew Chief previous experience
CAD experience and familiarity with in-office processes
