The City Attorney's Office is seeking a talented part-time Legal Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll be responsible for preparing legal documents, assisting attorneys in criminal prosecution and various civil matters, helping manage phone calls and email for the office, and engaging in a multitude of administrative tasks to keep our office operations running smoothly. With up to 24 hours per week, you'll have the flexibility to balance your schedule while making meaningful contributions to our team. Required Education and Experience:

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and

Four (4) years of office administrative (or similar) experience with two (2) years in a legal or public sector setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in a legal work environment.

Available Schedule:

This is a part-time year-round position where you can be scheduled up to 24 hours a week.

Essential Functions of the Position:

Performs difficult and responsible legal administrative and clerical duties.

Knowledge of legal terminology, forms, documents, and procedures.

Prepares and distributes resolutions and ordinances and other legal documents; composes correspondence, memoranda, and other actions.

Administers the Victim’s Program in relation to Municipal Court prosecution.

Provided discovery to criminal defendants and defense attorneys.

Answers telephones, receives, and routes mail, maintains office supplies and provides customer service, such as responding to citizen questions, concerns, complaints, etc.

Engages in electronic and physical case management for criminal prosecution and other matters.

Assists with annual budget preparation, monitors expenditures, and prepares payroll reports.

The scope of the assigned area of responsibility will depend on departmental structure and is at the discretion of the City Attorney.
