Summary About the Position: This position is in the Laboratory Sciences Division of Public Health - West located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Responsibilities Assist in developing memoranda, decision papers, SOPs, command policy letters, and other management documents. Establishes and maintains a variety of files, records, and reports such as technical correspondence files, standard files, and specification files. Responsible for typing, processing, compiling, tabulating, tracking, and completing travel orders. Assist in compiling and finalizing data for civilian and operating budget. Develops and maintains a suspense system for controlling personnel standards, appraisals and military performance ratings, personnel action etc. Making all necessary travel arrangements to include airline, hotel, and rental car reservations, and itineraries. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes demonstrated experience serving as a secretary in a department level or higher-level position; preparing administrative documents timely and accurately using automation devices; establishing standard operating procedures for administrative functions; reviewing correspondence prepared by others for accuracy; managing supervisor's calendar; preparing travel orders and making travel arrangements.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.
