Primary Role Focus The Machinist is responsible for producing prototype and production parts as required and based out of the Packers Plus Tomball RTD facility. This role reports to the Machine Shop Supervisor. Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Setup and machine parts per setup instructions and part drawings
Read engineering drawings and interpret work instructions for manufacturing machines
Verify existing programs are to current revision levels for new orders
Operate and program CNC machine
Read and follow job routers
Ensure timely and accurate completion of all parts
Perform 100% QA checks, including dimensional inspection of parts and recording any deviations
Communicate machining best practices to designers
Maintain and calibrate precision measuring equipment
Assist with any repairs or maintenance of equipment
Work with Maintenance to manage and monitor equipment maintenance
Ensure NCR system is followed and is maintained correctly
Operate jib crane and forklift
Housekeeping in the Machine Shop
Compliance with Packers Plus Health & Safety Program
Position Requirements
Experience and Skills
Minimum 5 years machine shop experience required
Familiar with Fanuc and Mazak controls required
Oil & Gas machining experience an asset
Proficiency with reading and understanding machining blueprints
Experience with QA principles (measurements) and all forms of measure equipment
Knowledge of machining practices and procedures
Beginner to Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Experience with manual lathe and mill an asset
Experience with API-Q1 / ISO 9001:2015 standards an asset
Education and Training
High school graduate or equivalent preferred
Forklift training required
First aid certification
Physical and Safety Requirements
Position is Safety Sensitive and subject to a pre-employment medical assessment and drug & alcohol testing
Subject to post-incident and reasonable-cause drug & alcohol testing
Lifting/carrying up to 5 0 lbs
Some use of computer monitor, keyboard, and mouse
