Madden Industrial Craftsmen, a premier skilled trades staffing agency, is currently seeking a dependable Shop Helper / Band Saw Operator for a metal fabrication company in Phoenix, AZ.
This is a temporary position through the end of the year supporting production and shipping operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating a horizontal band saw, assisting with material handling, and performing light maintenance when needed. Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic are essential for this role.
Pay: $18.00 – $24.00 per hour, DOE
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM + some Saturdays (5:00 AM – 9:00 AM)
Employment Type: Temporary (through end of the year)
Background/UA: Not required; clean driving record required
Responsibilities
Operate a horizontal band saw to cut stainless steel and sheet metal materials to specification.
Read and interpret drawings, measurements, and cut lists.
Perform general shop labor including material handling, loading, and organization.
Operate a forklift to move materials and assist with loading/unloading trucks.
Perform will-calls or deliveries using personal vehicle as needed (mileage reimbursed).
Assist with polishing, assembly, or laser departments as needed.
Perform light maintenance tasks, such as changing belts, pumps, or basic equipment repairs.
Ability to service coolers on the roof is a plus (change out pumps, belts, etc.).
Maintain a clean and safe work area, following all company and OSHA safety standards.
Qualifications
1–3 years of shop, fabrication, or machine operation experience.
Forklift experience required; must meet MVR clearance requirements (clean driving record).
Ability to read drawings and use tape measures accurately.
Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and work safely in a fabrication environment.
Comfortable with early start times (5 AM) and some Saturday work.
Dependable, safety-minded, and willing to assist wherever needed.
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform light maintenance a plus.
