A boutique law firm specializing in immigration law is seeking a professional, detail-oriented Immigration Law Clerk to join its growing practice. The firm represents individuals and families in a wide range of immigration matters and offers a collaborative, hands-on environment with direct attorney mentorship.
Position Overview
The Immigration Law Clerk will play a key role in managing cases from intake through resolution, supporting the attorney in all phases of representation. This position is ideal for a law student, recent law graduate, bar candidate, or experienced law clerk seeking substantive immigration law experience in a small firm setting.
Primary Responsibilities
Conduct legal research on immigration statutes, regulations, policy guidance, and case law
Draft, proofread, and prepare immigration filings, including petitions, applications, declarations, and supporting exhibits
Assist with preparation and filing of matters before USCIS, EOIR (Immigration Court), the BIA, and other government agencies
Manage case calendars, deadlines, hearings, biometrics appointments, and filing dates
Communicate directly with clients to gather information, documents, and updates on case status
Coordinate with government agencies, opposing counsel, and third parties as needed
Organize, review, and summarize client records, evidence, and country condition materials
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and electronic databases
Qualifications and Requirements
Hands-on experience or demonstrated interest in immigration law
Familiarity with USCIS forms, EOIR procedures, and immigration filing requirements preferred
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and legal case management software
Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team
Education
JD (or JD candidate), Bachelor’s degree, or relevant legal studies background preferred
