Gold Palm is a bar and restaurant in Uptown Oakland, just steps from The Fox Theater. Our small but focused menu consists of Pakistani-inspired small plates along with salads and a few heartier dishes alongside our critically acclaimed cocktail program. This is not a fine dining kitchen, but we pride ourselves on delivering delicious, well-executed and unpretentious food using high-quality ingredients.
We are seeking an experienced Line Cook to join our team. Preferably someone who wants to grow with us, with potential opportunity to for more hours/responsibility.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Preparing and cooking menu items to the restaurant's high standards
- Maintaining organization and cleanliness at your station and in the kitchen as a whole
- Following food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times without exception
- Following the direction of the Kitchen Manager and shift leads
- Opening each station and preparing for service
- Thorough completion of end of shift cleaning tasks
Key requirements:
- Reliable - If you can't reliably show up to your scheduled shifts, please don't apply
- Punctual - If you can't show up ON TIME, please don't apply
- Attention to detail in all tasks
- Strong verbal and written English language comprehension (Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus)
- Experience cooking at various stations on the line in a fast-paced commercial kitchen
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques for meats, vegetables, etc.
- Strong knife skills
- Teamwork - no ego, no drama
- Ability to take feedback and constructive criticism in stride without taking it personally
- Accountability - mistakes happen, so take responsibility when they do
- Positive attitude and a good sense of humor
- Weekends (Friday and Saturday nights) Required
