Workroom Manager – Custom Drapery & Window Treatments
Fabric Walls Inc. is a well-established, niche drapery and wall upholstery workroom based in San Francisco. Founded in 1977, we specialize in high-quality custom window treatments, including handmade fabric shades (such as Roman shades), woven wood blinds, custom curtains, and custom hardware. We are seeking an experienced Workroom Manager to oversee daily operations, fabrication, and installation while maintaining our high standards of craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day operations of the workroom, ensuring projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule
Oversee fabrication and installation of custom window treatments, including fabric shades, woven wood blinds, curtains, and hardware
Lead, train, and support workroom staff; foster a positive, collaborative team environment
Ensure quality control across all sewing, fabrication, and installation work
Plan and coordinate installations, including on-site problem-solving
Assist with loading and unloading tools, ladders, and materials as needed
Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient workroom
Communicate clearly with team members, installers, and management
Required Skills & Experience:
Strong hands-on experience with custom drapery fabrication and installation
Proficient use of hand and power tools, including drills, saws, pneumatic staplers, and nail guns
Advanced sewing skills, including hand sewing and use of home and industrial sewing machines
Comfortable working on ladders and lifting heavy curtains and hardware
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong mathematical aptitude and accuracy
Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
Valid driver’s license with a clean, insurable driving record

Flexible and willing to travel out of town for work-related installations
Position Details:
Full-time position preferred; part-time candidates considered
Standard work hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM
Competitive salary based on experience
Benefits available to full-time employees after 90 days
