Looking for a caregiver for my 86-year-old father,
3-5 days/wk.
Must be willing and able to be paid through the IHSS/WPCS system (State of California).
This requires fingerprinting, background check, and orientation before pay can begin.
Pay: $20–$22/hr (based on IHSS rate).
Must have a car and reliable transportation.
We’ve had issues in the past with caregivers being inconsistent or taking feedback personally. Some arrived late, left early, or brought their own emotions into the job instead of remaining professional. Jay is one of the kindest men you’ll meet, but he gets overwhelmed easily, can be needy, and is very forgetful — so he needs someone professional, organized, and reliable. You must be able to take feedback without defensiveness and maintain a consistent work schedule.
Duties:
– Organize medications and give reminders; prepare meals.
– Light housekeeping: dishes, counters, trash, laundry, general tidying.
– Serve as main contact for doctors and manage all scheduling/medical communication.
– Help with passwords and tech tasks: emails, television remote, letters, bills, insurance, and organizing important mail.
– Drive to appointments (stay with him inside and write down any important medical info), run errands, groceries, pharmacy pickups.
– Occasional outings (1x/week max): short trips to the beach, church, visits with friends, etc. (Gas reimbursed.)
—-Must be flexible to handle additional duties when needed, since he’s getting older.
Please message me if you’re professional, organized, and IHSS-eligible (or willing to become eligible).
