Renewable Properties is seeking a Solar Development Trainee who can work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment providing strategic, analytical, and process support throughout the project development lifecycle.

The individual must be an innovative thinker, fast learner, collaborative worker, and self-starter with a passion for the renewable energy industry. The individual will hone their research, strategy, and analytical skills. This is a unique opportunity to build professional skills while contributing to a high-growth, impactful industry.

This 12-week program provides specialized on-the-job training, under the guidance of an experienced team to help build professional skills to begin a career in solar development.

Responsibilities:

Provide analytical, strategic, and process support throughout the project development lifecycle (including land, interconnection, engineering, permitting, and construction).

Assist with identifying new greenfield solar project opportunities.

Assist with advancing the development of assigned projects to construction-ready status.

Support with the permitting process and expediting.

Solar site visits and report completion used for construction readiness.

Create and maintain project maps, databases, and tracking tools for assigned projects.

Prepare legal documents, meeting agendas/minutes, and reports.

Successfully interact and collaborate with a variety of internal and external project partners.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

1-3+ years of development, construction, planning, or permitting experience, ideally in real estate (prior experience in renewable energy is a plus).

Familiarity with various facets of the solar project development process (land, interconnection, permitting, and construction).

Resourceful and accomplished research skills - the ability to effectively utilize publicly available materials.

Ability to succinctly communicate and summarize complex issues into actionable deliverables.

Driven, resourceful, and comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment.

Rigorous attention to detail, work ethic, personal responsibility, work product ownership, and organizational skills.

Proficient in working with computers (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe, Google Earth, Slack, and Zoom).

Possession of a valid driver’s license and proper insurance.

Travel as required.

NABCEP or equivalent solar industry certification preferred.

Work Location:

Remote, must be located within Illinois. With remote work, one must have a reliable Internet connection, a pair of headphones, and a reasonably quiet area when you need where you can participate in training calls and meetings. The Company can provide a laptop with a webcam. No further office peripherals are required.
