Tool & Die Machinist - 1st Shift

Title:  Tool and Die Technician Reports to:  Plant ManagerJob Purpose:  Responsible for repair and maintenance of all dies, punches, tool steel, and fixtures. Also, responsible for coil-fed die change setups and changeovers.Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:Determine the extent and method of repair to dies by means of careful inspection and accurate measurement.Perform repair operations to dies, punches, tool steel, and fixturesSet up and operate standard milling machine, lathe, drill press, grinder and other machine tools as directed under general supervisionSet up, change, and change over metal stamping dies per production scheduleSet up specific part programs and parameters for metal stamping presses, feed lines, and dies using the company’s standard practices and proceduresPerform quality checks according to the company’s procedures to verify die set up prior to production runTroubleshoot issues and identify the cause of errors, problems, and defectsMake and maintain shims for blank and form diesInitiate maintenance work orders and log labor details according to the company’s recording processPerform general housekeeping duties and daily, weekly, and monthly 5S dutiesMaintain die racks and mounting plates in organized mannerOperate material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead crane, etc to move dies and equipment as neededPerform other duties as required or assigned by supervisor.Follow all OSHA and internal safety standards.
