Job Summary:
Eastern Drayage is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Forklift Operator/Yard Worker to join our team. This role involves handling materials, operating forklifts, assisting with rigging and slinging, and ensuring safe loading and unloading operations.
Key Responsibilities:
MUST HAVE HAD EXPERIENCE OPERATING LIFTS AT A CAPACITY OF 35,000 LBS.
EMPHASIS ON EXPERIENCE WITH LOADING AND UNLOADING STEEL PIPE.
-Handle tools and lashing materials as necessary.
-Place or remove dunnage, including materials resting on transport surfaces or stacks of pipe.
-Hook and unhook lifting gear as required.
-Understand and apply the fundamentals of rigging and slinging.
-Operate forklifts safely and efficiently.
-Dismantle and store rigging/slinging equipment after use.
Qualifications:
-Minimum of 3 yrs specifically with experience in bulk commodities and out of gauge materials.
-Prior experience in a yard or warehouse environment preferred.
-Knowledge of rigging and slinging fundamentals.
-Ability to operate forklifts (certification preferred or willingness to obtain).
-Strong awareness of workplace safety procedures.
-Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
-Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
-Physical ability to climb, lift, and perform manual labor as needed.
