Seeking a Chef to be responsible for developing meal plans, preparing snacks, lunch and dinner for sorority members and guests in a new large well-equipped commercial kitchen. Menu planning and advance meal-signups inform meal preparation for 30 to 150 guests at a hot/cold buffet or occassional family-style meal service. Professional demeanor, flexibility, sense of humor and being receptive to feedback from members is a must.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepares nutritious, well-balanced meals, with appealing presentation for lunch and dinner
- Provides alternate meals/menus for members with dietary restrictions (gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, etc.)
- Purchases/orders food and coordinates deliveries to create approved menus using approved vendors
- Ensures all food purchases stay within weekly budget.
- Collaborates in the planning of daily meals, chapter dinners, special events and/or necessary menu adjustments by working with the House Director and collegiate House Manager
- Follows all sanitation regulations regarding food handling, storage, and dish washing, while training kitchen assistants to do same
- Maintains a clean kitchen, cooking and pantry area including refrigerators, freezers, storage areas, stoves, equipment, utensils, sinks, counters, cupboards, floors, etc. working with kitchen assistants
- Takes inventory of all equipment, dishes, and food products bi-annually
- Monitors and immediately notifies the House Director of the need for appliance cleaning, repair(s) and maintenance.
- Adheres to University, House Corporation Board and Chapter policies and rules.
EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience in a commercial kitchen , club or restaurant serving a large volume of food is a must.
ServSafe certification preferred.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00 pm, flexible 40 hours a week, paid time off during University holidays
Salary: $45 - 48,000 annually
