Juniper Preserve/Pronghorn Golf Club is hiring an Assistant Mechanic to join our Agronomy team!

Under the supervision of the Equipment Manager, the Assistant Mechanic assists in all areas of equipment repair and maintenance.

Status: Full time, year round

Compensation: $22-$32/hour (depending on experience)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Supervise and participate in all equipment maintenance including:

- Mower grinding and sharpening

- Backlapping, and setting heights of cut

- Daily equipment and height of cut inspections

- Fabrication and welding

- Engine and transmission work

- Vendor & manufacturer correspondence including parts ordering or troubleshooting

- Manage all shop operations in Equipment Manager’s absence

- Overhaul and repair maintenance vehicles, mower equipment, and other power equipment

- Inspect equipment for operating deficiencies and make routine adjustments

- Respond to equipment failures in the field

- Knowledge of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems, and mowing equipment maintenance

- Receive, unload, and pick up materials deliveries

- Assist in controlling tool access and use

- Monitor and maintain grass dump and wash bay areas

- Participate in equipment orientation and training, and assist in ongoing training programs

- Maintain accurate records

- Proper calibration of spraying/fertilizer equipment

- Maintain equipment service and storage areas in clean working order

- Monitor fuel storage and staff fuel usage

- Assist with snow removal and plowing as needed

- Oversee and participate in maintenance of other department’s vehicles and equipment

QUALIFICATIONS:

- 3+ years experience as an equipment technician or related field

- Knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, mechanical tools, and equipment maintenance

- Valid driver’s license required

- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

- Mechanical certificate or equivalent work experience preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Ability to lift 25-50 lbs regularly, up to 100 lbs occasionally

- Able to work in outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, and wet environments

WORK CONDITIONS:

- Full-time, may require overtime and occasional weekends

- Hands-on, active role in equipment maintenance and shop operations
