About Our Hospital

BarburVet is a busy, privately-owned, 2-doctor practice in Southwest Portland. We are AAHA accredited, which means we uphold a high standard of care. We are a Fear Free certified hospital. We see dogs, cats, and some exotics (think birds, lizards, and small mammals) with a strong emphasis on preventative care and wellness. Our hospital has in-house lab work, ultrasound, digital radiography, panoramic dental radiographs, and digital records. We believe in having fun at work while maintaining high-quality patient care and customer service. We are a day-practice currently Monday-Thursday.

We are growing and are seeking a full-time experienced CVT/LVT

Job Duties and Requirements

Duties include but are not limited to:

Seeing appointments through from start to finish - getting patient histories, weights, TPRs; filling medications to go home; providing treatments and diagnostics in the hospital; discharging the patient to the owner

Maintaining thorough and accurate charts for patients seen

Performing diagnostics such as phlebotomy/bloodwork, radiographs, and ultrasound-guided cystocentesis

Preparing patients for surgery, including placing catheters

Monitoring anesthesia, ability to work an anesthetic machine, ensure that it is in working order as well as problem solve anesthesia complications with the veterinarian. . Patient care is number one priority and safe anesthetic procedures are due to attention to detail.

Performing dental radiographs, scaling and charting

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for 4+ hours

Strong patient handling skills

Willingness to learn and grow with us

2+ years of experience as a veterinary assistant
