501(c)(3) Non-profit horse rescue in Robinson needs part-time help.
Some kind of horse experience is a MUST because, let’s be honest, horses can be jerks. We love them all, but they can be jerks and horse people know this. We’d like to think the ones who live here are less jerky, but they all have their moments.
This very non-glamorous job varies anywhere from 15 to potentially 30 hours a week depending upon what’s going on around here. It’s a split schedule, 7:30 to about 10:30 in the morning and 4:30 to 6:30 in the evenings. Five days a week, including weekends (at least one day). We have help but we need more.
We are looking for someone who doesn’t smoke (forbidden near the barn anyway, but vaping for breaks, etc. is negotiable), must be drug-free and won’t drink during work hours. Ever.
It’s hot, it’s cold, it’s muddy a lot of the time, it’s a lot of cleaning poop and scrubbing water troughs and feed tubs and sweeping and cleaning. There is no riding because most of these horses are broke down former racehorses, but it’s very rewarding.
We value reliability, honesty, sobriety and punctuality. Nobody here micromanages, you have to be a self starter and just know that things need to get done.
Being able to work as a team as well as independently is essential, too; just get the job done, avoid drama with your co-workers and take pride in your job and you’ll be left alone.
We also value a sense of humor with bonus points for sarcastic wit.
Does this sound like something you can and want to do?
Thank you.
