Job Summary
The Bindery & Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining bindery and packaging equipment to produce finished printed products according to job specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operate bindery and packaging equipment such as cutters, folders, stitchers, perfect binders, die cutters, gluers, shrink-wrappers, and mailing equipment
Set up machines for various job requirements and adjust settings for optimal performance
Inspect finished products to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency
Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on equipment
Read and interpret job tickets, work orders, and production schedules
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Meet production deadlines while minimizing waste
Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Qualifications
Previous experience in a print shop, bindery, or packaging environment is preferred but not mandatory
Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn and operate industrial machinery
Attention to detail and strong quality-control skills
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Basic math, reading, and measurement skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills
Experience with mailing, fulfillment, or automated packaging systems
Knowledge of print finishing processes and materials
