Position Summary
The Carpenter Assistant supports the Lead Carpenter in completing residential and commercial construction, repair, and installation projects. This position involves hands-on labor, material handling, maintaining a clean worksite, and assisting with the preparation, assembly, and finishing of carpentry tasks. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-focused, and able to follow instructions with a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities
Carpentry Support
Assist with measuring, cutting, and assembling wood, metal, and other materials.
Support the installation of framing, trim, cabinets, doors, windows, flooring, and other building components.
Pre-cut materials and stage tools for the carpenter to maintain workflow.
Assist with demolition, site preparation, and clean-up.
Tools & Equipment
Set up and break down tools, ladders, saws, and equipment daily.
Safely operate basic hand tools and power tools under supervision.
Maintain equipment cleanliness and report any damage or maintenance issues.
Material Handling
Load, unload, and organize building materials on the job site.
Track and communicate material needs to the carpenter or supervisor.
Dispose of debris and maintain a clean, safe workspace.
Safety
Follow all company safety protocols and OSHA guidelines.
Wear required PPE at all times.
Identify and report potential hazards on the job site.
General Support
Run errands for tools and materials as needed.
Assist with project documentation (photos, measurements, job notes).
Communicate effectively with the team and maintain a professional attitude with clients.
Qualifications
Previous construction or carpentry experience preferred but not required.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
Basic knowledge of hand tools and construction terminology.
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
Reliable transportation and punctuality required.
